We all know moving can be a long and tiresome task especially when it comes to packing, but packing can actually be somewhat simple and even be done quickly. Here is a short guide on how to pack from Yawdy Movers LLC.
DO NOT WAIT LAST MINUTE TO START PACKING
We usually underestimate the amount of things we acquire over time and tend to leave packing for the day before the move. Then when we finally get started we realize it’s way too much to do in one night. Once you know you are going to move, start packing at least 1 or 2 week before.
DECIDE ON WHAT YOU WANT
This is the decluttering process where you go through your possessions and decide what you want to keep, what you want to sell, what you want to throw away and what you want to donate. Sort them into categories to make things a little easier; Sell, Trash, Donate.
PACK EACH ROOM SEPERATELY
By packing one room completely before moving on to the next, you’ll make it easier on yourself and also avoid leaving only the most difficult things to the last minute such as jewelry.
PACKING FRAGILE/BREAKABLE ITEMS
Avoid making your boxes of fragile and breakable items too heavy since heavy boxes are usually stacked at the bottom. Use extra packing paper and wrap each fragile and breakable item individually. Pad the top and bottom of the box with cloth/clothing or towels. Mark the box as fragile so movers know to take extra care when packing into truck and transporting it. When packing dishes be sure stack vertically, not horizontally.
PACKING YOUR CLOTHES
If you are able to, consider obtaining a few wardrobe boxes. These boxes are really great for easily packing clothes from and to your closet. They have bars so your clothes can just move directly from your closet to the box, still on the hangers, and from box to your new closet.
You can also try using the trash bags where you put trash bags around your clothes while they’re still hanging in the closet the tie up the tip leaving the hangers sticking out.
LEAVING ITEMS IN DRAWERS?
You can leave lightweight unbreakable items in bureau or dresser drawers. Even though it’s not advisable, clothing can be left in dressers depending on the size and weight.
